I. Red Castle

"In the folklore of the local citizenry, the color red was used to ward off evil spirits. Tall castles were set up along the outer ring of a swamp and red dye and bright lights made them stand out for miles around, much like the lighthouses of the Old Times. The watery hazard ran for fifty miles along the edge of one of the continent’s longest rivers, often making it necessary to cross it. Weary travelers trekking through the swamp would see the red beacons and know they had a place of safety waiting for them when darkness fell, but woe to those who lingered too long on the crossing. Sometimes the red lights buzzing nearby were actually from the spirit plane."
