"Once humanity learned to tame the atom and cross the endless starfields of the Solverse, it became a simple matter to fabricate any item a human being could ever want or need. Markets filled up with goods that were crafted and manufactured by robots, priced so low anyone could walk off the street and take what they needed without worry of upsetting the lint at the bottom of their pocket. However, without real demand, the markets were destined to became block-sized memorials to commerce now frozen in time. A tourist trap filled with every electronic item, every piece of jewelry, and enough clothes to outfit a thousand armies of shoppers, but no one to take them of the shelves. Most common in the later epochs of the Solverse."
