I. Hot Spring[]

"The use of remote exploration tools was common in all eras of the Solverse. It was only natural to send robotic probes to explore nearby worlds before risking humans on such flights. However, such remote field work wasn’t always a guarantee of success. On this unnamed world, pictured, the cameras picked up what appeared to be harmless wisps of energy floating above and dipping into a mineral-rich hot spring. There was no sign of hostility against the probe. When humans reached this location a hundred years later, the wisps became immediately hostile, and burned through the exo-suits of several team members. Military authorities swooped in and nuked the site repeatedly, but the powerful beings remained. It is unclear from notes if the mission to colonize this world was ever successful, but we are certain it left quite a mess."
