"Maare arrived at the Library of Constancy to find the basement filling with water from recent storms. She understood the Mother of Order, usually in the form of a Koi fish, preferred to travel in her natural element, so the flooding was probably deliberate. The water soon glowed with vivid blues, greens, and yellows as the Mother of Order approached. Maare knelt out of respect, and her bladed dreadlocks hovered low on her back as if they, too, could honor their lady. The koi appeared at the edge of the water, but her voice sounded from inside Maara's head. “Your punishment, Goddess of War, Defender of Light, is to lose the ability to ever engage in personal combat again.” It might well have been a death sentence…"
